Epic stakeholders,

Epic’s staff, governance and leadership wish to thank everyone for their patience these past 14 months. COVID-19 has made this past year a particularly difficult and challenging time for all concerned. We once again would like to update you regarding new state guidance. In recognition of the state’s vaccination progress and guidance from public health experts, the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) is lifting some COVID-19 restrictions for organizations that provide day and employment services for people with disabilities.

This is great news! We have revised our COVID-19 Preparedness Plan to reflect these changes. We plan to implement some of the changes gradually to minimize the spread of the virus. For now, our transportation routes and cohorts will remain with few changes. Throughout the summer, we will be making changes while monitoring the situation. Although vaccinated staff and clients will not be required to wear masks throughout the day, masks will be required during transportation. Those who are unvaccinated will be required to wear masks at all times. We encourage anyone to wear a mask, should they so choose. If family (or guardian) wants their vaccinated family member to continue to wear a mask for added protection, they should contact their Program Coordinator or Leah Williams at lwilliams@epicenterprisinc.org. Please read the new COVID-19 Preparedness Plan for more detailed information.

We have received a number of requests from clients who want to resume services, expand service hours or start new services. Currently, we are limited by staffing challenges. We recognize that this is frustrating but it’s important for us to be sure that we can offer the supports that people need. We are working to make the changes necessary to hire and train additional competent employees.

Thank you to everyone for remaining supportive and flexible while we work through these challenges. We especially thank our dedicated staff for their commitment to our mission and for keeping things going through so much uncertainty and change. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact a Program Coordinator or me at lhibbard@epicenterpriseinc.org.

Warm regards,

Linda Hibbard
